Hello! I'm Andrea Echols; my pronouns are she/her/hers. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, then earned a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Montevallo. Currently, I am working toward a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Alabama. I have a passion for working with kink, polyamorous, and consensually non-monogamous individual adults (19+), minorities (including racial, sexual, religious, spiritual, and gender), and clients that have experienced trauma.
Every person is different therefore every interaction is different. Counseling is not a “cookie cutter” experience. We do have patterns that help me as a counselor to help you efficiently and appropriately for each situation we may encounter during our therapeutic relationship. Counseling is not purely processing, what most people think of as the stereotypical “sitting on the couch and talking”. Counseling also includes making changes, gaining self-awareness, having a willingness to gradually open up and so much more. As a counselor, I do not have “magic words” for a “fix all solution”; I will however be there as a guide for you. I can teach you techniques through evidence-based practices to help you manage what life may throw your way.
I never want financial concern to be the reason that someone does not get mental health services that they need. If you do not have insurance or Blue Cross Blue Shield, I offer sliding scale. Sliding scale means that I am willing to work with you based on your financial need. If you would like more information about this, please contact the office via phone or email.
